Wedding/Reception tips
Here we'd like to share tips and tricks from magazine articles, websites and actual couples, that may help with answers to your questions or decision making.

From a well known wedding magazine, Spring-Summer 2008 issue:

YOUR INVITATION LIST
Divide your guests into categories; i.e., distant cousins, college friends, coworkers, etc. Decide which categories get priority and go from there.

It's tempting to start by writing down everyone you can think of and narrowing it down from there, but remember - it's tough to cut back to 100 after you've listed 350!

You, your fiance', and your parents should draft lists of absolutely "must" invites.

If there are any "and guest" invitees, consider them carefully-there is no reason for anyone who is not seriously involved, engaged or married to bring a date.

Coworkers - ONLY invite them if they are really your friends (you spend time outside of work with).

Chances are, you can't (and shouldn't) invite everyone you've ever met. So lose the guilt and get down to work!

CUTTING THE CAKE!

When will we cut it? Decide whether you want to cut the cake at the beginning of the reception, after the food has been served or once the dance floor has been opened up for an hour or so. Traditionally, the cake cutting is a cue for guests that the wedding is coming to an end.

Who will Announce it? If you're hiring a DJ or a band, announcing the cake cutting can be their job. Or, you may wish to have one of your parents or guests announce it instead.

How will it be announced? Many DJs have songs that they'll play. Decide whether this is something that you would like and make arrangements before hand.

How will we cut it? It isn't brain surgery and there's really no wrong way to do so. Just decide beforehand. Typically, you'll cut the first slice together, hand over hand, then feed each a small bite. (No cake in the face, please!)

What do we need to bring? Your site manager or coordinator should have everything on hand. Just double check that everything is planned ahead of time. There should be a cake-cutting knife, two plates, napkins, and champagne glasses, filled just before the actual cutting.

4 MUST HAVE BEAUTY GOODS TO KEEP IN YOUR PURSE

Lip Color - Ask your makeup artist what she plans to use, then go out and grab a tube for touch-ups.

Blotting Papers - Banish any shine with some high-end blotting papers that won't ruin your makeup.

Eyelash Comb - After the ceremony (and many joyful tears), an eyelash comb will prevent mascara and wet lashes from clumping.

Blush - Between hugs and kisses, your cheeks could probably use a pick-me-up. Stick with a sheer cream blush or a stain that's easy to reapply.
